Day 19 - California Reopening Plan - Phase 3

Central Park hiking trail…

Saturday

So, I guess we’re not in Phase 3 yet. On Friday, KCRA said California was scheduled to open for Phase 3 on Friday, 6/12/20. According to KCRA, Phase 3 consists of the following criteria:

Phase 3 allows the following to reopen with public health modifications:

- Schools
- Day camps
-
Bars - B. and I were in the bar “section” of BJs two weeks ago.
-
Gyms - Didn’t we do this two weeks ago??
-
Campgrounds - Weren’t these open two weeks ago?
- Professional sports

Public health modifications include social distancing, lower capacity of people allowed in a closed space, increased sanitizing and workers must wear masks and gloves.”

But, as usual, I’m incredibly confused because, on 5/28/20, Governor Newsom authorized California to move to Phase 3 which is quoted as follows:

“Reopening higher risk workplaces, which require close proximity to other people, including:

- Hair salons
- Nail salons
- Movie theaters
-
Gyms
-
Campgrounds
- Religious services (churches and weddings)

8:30 - 9:00 - Up and I take the dog outside. She pooped in the house, this time near the back door. Upstairs and I read Elena Vanishing.

9:30-10:30 - I start getting ready, which includes a shower. The dog needs her rabies vaccine and the Vet clinic is only open from 10:00-1:00, every day but Sundays. L. has to lead an art Zoom birthday party for little girls at 12:00 so we have a narrow window.

10:45 - 11:00 - We leave and head to the clinic. The line is astronomical and wraps around the parking lot, with dogs and their owners social distancing on the sidewalk and asphalt. Pass. We leave.

11:00-12:00 - I check email for my state job and call a client. I do light correspondence to prepare for my work day on Monday because I have to go in. As I’ve stated in numerous other blogs about mandatory work days, “there is no way around it.” I have a “subject interview” scheduled.

12:00-12:30 - I check email from College No. #1 - nothing important.

12:30-2:00 - I sit outside, at my patio table, with my coffee and two cookies, and read Elena Vanishing. Not hungry today.

2:00-4:00 - L. is done with her birthday party so we go to Lady Di’s and get “sweets.” I get a cupcake for B. and myself and add a brownie with walnuts to the mix. L. gets some sort of disgusting caramel apple thing and cupcakes for her and R. I pick up the tab and show my ID for my 10% teacher discount.

I tried to go to Trader Joes twice previously, to get their famous no-pulp OJ, but the line was so intimidating I gave up. After Lady Di’s, L. offers to go for me and says I can sit in the car. I’m so happy about this! We go and she picks up two containers of OJ - I can freeze one - 2 zucchinis, and honey. I needed these items. She also adds Pirates Booty - I pay for it all. I eat my brownie while she’s inside.

4:15 - Home and L. has to attend a birthday party for her cousin, A., at her uncle’s house, on her Dad’s side. L.’s Dad (my ex) flew in today and is also at the party. He invites me to go, which is actually really nice, but I decline.

4:15 -4:45 - I drive to Central Park and study the hiking paths. There are several creepy guys there, solo, so I stay in my car and just observe. I read a UK Money Diary.

4:45 - 5:30 - I drive to one of our parks located off of Plum Canyon, high in the hills, with an amazing view. Unfortunately, there’s a group of young men congregated around a picnic table at the park, laughing and talking loudly, so I leave without getting out of my car. Why does it have to be like this for women? I’m sure I’m overly paranoid, but part of it is I’m pretty tiny (for readers, I weigh 98 pounds) and can easily be over-powered…

6:00-7:30 - I return home and take a nap. L. returns from her cousin’s b-day party, but immediately leaves - we don’t see each other - to pick up R. and take him to the drive-in theater in Hollywood. They’re seeing a horror movie and it starts at 8:45.

8:00-8:30 - I do an upper body workout with my Kathy Smith app.

8:30-9:00 - I have my herb chicken and mushrooms for dinner again. Still tasty. I have champagne.

9:00-10:00 - I clean the kitchen, wash and put away dishes, and pack my lunch for Monday. I pick out a work outfit for Monday, too.

10:00-11:30 - I watch Forensic Files and braid my hair.

11:30-12:00 - Night time ritual. Bed.
