Day 14 since I was injected with the J&J vaccine
I watched this film today…
4/22/21. Thursday
10:00–10:30 – 100.5 pounds today. Up and I go downstairs to say good morning to the animal. She pooped near the front door. I rub her tummy three times and we go outside. She is still fixated on the bushes where the rat might live and I really just want her to go potty. She finally does her business and we return inside; coffee for me, cheese for her.
I go in the garage and the dog comes with me, but starts running around L.’s car. Out of the corner of my eye, I think I see the back of a rat, maybe the tail???, near the drivers side of her car, in the garage. If what I see is true, the rat is almost as big as the dog! OMG. I run inside with the dog and then open the garage door in the hopes that it will leave.
Upstairs and I’m stressed out.
10:30-1:00 – Blog posts
1:00-2:00 – I have chicken and roasted vegetables for lunch and read Small Animals.
2:00-3:00 – More Small Animals
3:00-4:00 – Shower. Lotion. Covid-19 uniform. I listen to The Daily.
4:00-4:30 – I wipe down my bathroom, sinks, counters, mirrors, clean the toilet…these days, I really hate cleaning.
L. leaves for work.
4:30-5:30 – Blog post.
5:30-6:30 – I have leftover salmon from B.’s house and read Small Animals.
6:30- 7:30 – Class typically starts at 6:00 on Thursdays, but I requested a Personal Necessity day a couple months ago, so class is canceled. Unfortunately, it appears that I’ve taken the entire DAY off and have accomplished nothing of importance.
I take the dog for a walk. I listen to the Political Gabfest.
7:30-8:00 – I have 6 potato chips with carmelized onion dip and I think I’ve died and gone to heaven!
I sweep my patio. Gardening. I listen to PBS Newshour segments.
L. returns from work and tells me about her day.
8:30-9:15 – In my office and I read the assigned pages from my French Cinema text in preparation for this week’s film, The Class.
9:15-11:30 – I watch the movie, take notes, and drink champagne. The movie is over 2 hours long. It’s…okay. The classroom scenes are too long and the exchanges between the teacher and the students go on and on. At 2 hours and 8 minutes, the film, itself, is just too long. There is a turning point in the film when the teacher snaps and calls two 14-year-old female students “bitches” (“Closed caption” translates the word as “skanks.”). The teacher isn’t fired, but there is a chain reaction that ensues, resulting in a black male student getting expelled from school and probably deported to Mali.
11:30-11:45 – I take a True/False quiz regarding the film and my textbook and get a perfect score.
11:45-1:00 – Our French Cinema Discussion Board posts are due by tomorrow, at midnight, but I have some other things planned for tomorrow, so I really need to respond to one of the prompts my teacher left for us tonight. I prepare and edit a response, then post.
1:00-1:30 – I pull out the answer key for the essays that the students turned in on Monday and get everything ready for grading. I throw away several papers from the previous semester, as well as old Midterms and Finals.
1:30 – 2:00 – So exhausted and I take the smallest of naps with every intention of doing an Insanity workout when I wake up.
2:00 – 2:30 – Up and I do the first 20 minutes of Insanity – Cardio and Resistance, but it is half-assed at best. I’m pretty disappointed in myself.
2:30-3:15 – Night time routine. Bed.
