4/21/21. Wednesday [Tuesdays and Wednesdays are my weekend]

6:30 – No.  I try to go back to sleep.

9:00 – 10:00 - Up. Shower. Lotion. Covid-19 uniform. Brush hair. Brush teeth. Light make-up. Pack everything all over again. Load my car.

10:00-11:30 – B. returns with coffee and a chocolate-covered donut for me. He has something??? and we eat outside, at his patio table. It’s a nice and cool, overcast day.

11:30-12:30 – Return inside so we can watch a Dennis the Menace episode. [Episode 132 – “My Four Boys”, 3/17/63].

12:30-2:00 – B. recorded the new Kate Winslet series, Mare of Easttown. The pilot is great! and I’m totally invested. I really like the show, thus far. Looks like episodes drop every Sunday…

2:00 – 2:30 - I leave.

2:30 – 5:30 - Home and I absolutely must cook this chicken and do something with these vegetables before they turn.  I immediately get to work, making a roasted vegetable and chicken dish. I listen to True Crime Garage and Air Talk

This meal is so labor-intensive - OMG.  I have to prep the asparagus, green pepper, mushrooms, and red onion and then put everything into a roasting pan with EVOO and sea salt so I can broil the vegetables [well, cook them at 425 – I’m not truly broiling].  While I’m doing that, I opt to simply boil the chicken and add it to the vegetables after they’re done.

The parmesan cheese is starting to turn – I absolutely have to use it, TODAY.  I set aside one piece of chicken, then make a mayo-pesto-parmesan cheese paste, coat the chicken and bake at 325.

The boiled chicken is done, so I slice that, add to the pan of roasted vegetables, and sprinkle with Italian seasoning. I have a nibble of the roasted vegetables – they’re quite good.  I think L. will approve. I set aside a small section of the boiled chicken and chop it for the dog’s morning treats.

I break down a “bunch” of celery – is ‘bunch’ the correct term? – for snacking while the parmesan chicken meal bakes.

Kitchen duty.  Dishes and more dishes.

Parmesan chicken is done.  I slice off the smallest of corners – it’s okay, but I’m not a good judge of my own cooking because by the time I’m done preparing a meal, I no longer want to eat it because I’m sick of looking at it.

5:30-7:00 – I unpack my car, bring everything upstairs, and put it all away.  The dog is in the garage with me and fixated on a small shelving unit – she is trying to crawl under it and whining. Uh-oh…I think the rat is in the garage!

-I check email at Colleges No. 1 and 2, and then submit a textbook requisition for my summer class at College No. 2.

-L. surfaces.  Earlier in the day, she and N. went to the Topanga Mall, then she went to work. We talk for a bit and she shows me the new blazer she bought. She has some of the roasted chicken and vegetables I made and says they’re good.

7:00-8:00 – I take the dog for a walk and we come across another fellow dog walker who has a little Shih Tzu.  My dog goes into attack mode, barking and snarling…the owner of the Shih Tzu says, “Sooo angry” and keeps walking.

8:00-9:30 – I have leftover salmon and rice and read Small Things.

9:30-10:00 – I run downstairs to check on this week’s film for my French Cinema class. I wonder what we’re going to watch this week?  It’s always a surprise.

-The module is posted!  We’re reading about and watching The Class, a movie addressing a school in the suburbs, with larger commentary on France’s educational system.  **Reminder – in France, the suburbs are the bad sections and equivalent to America’s inner cities.

Can’t wait!

10:00-11:30 – I read a Money Diary then do an Insanity – Cardio Pylometric workout.

11:30-12:00 – Recover and I read Small Animals.

12:00-3:00 – L. and I watch the last two episodes of Allen vs. Farrow.  What a great series!  Woody Allen is disgusting!! It’s so obvious he molested Dylan.

3:15-4:00 – Night time routine. Bed.
