Day 69 - Governor Newsom imposes new restrictions

Trump to create the “MAGA Party”…

Trump to create the “MAGA Party”…

1/23/21. Saturday.

10:00 – 11:00 - I’m at B.’s house and wake up off and on the entire night, until finally getting out of bed at 10:00. B. goes to Starbucks while I take a shower. Lotion. Covid-19 uniform. Light make-up.

11:30-1:30 – B. and I sit outside at his patio table and have breakfast. It’s 55 degrees out so he fires up one of the industrial propane heat-lamps he recently bought. We drink our coffee and talk politics.  I have thin-mint Girl Scout cookies for breakfast (L. purchased several boxes a few days ago).

1:30-4:00 – B. and I coordinate our calendars for February, then watch Episode 3 of How to Fix a Drug Scandal. Still highly recommend. I have my leftover salmon and baked potato for lunch.

4:30 – Head home.

5:00-6:30 – Home and I unload and unpack everything…take the dog out.  L. and R. are finally celebrating her birthday now that quarantine for R. is over.  They went to Descanso Gardens today and are spending the night at the Glenmark Hotel.  I read three Money Diaries during transition time.

6:30-8:00 - I find some leftover Indian food and rice in the fridge and have that for dinner.  I hope nobody wanted it…another Money Diary.

8:00-8:45 – I review the ‘script’ (lecture) for Specialty Class 1A – Chapter 3 and coordinate it with the Chapter 3 review quiz on Canvas.  I make ready the audio clips for the various slides.

9:00-11:00 – I record lecture.

11:00-12:00 – I transcribe a PSA that I typically deliver the second week of school for all of my Core Class.  Now I have the written ‘script’ for future classes.

12:00-12:30 – Internet news – nothing much.  Trump is trying to create a third party.  This is going to pull conservatives from the Republican party and decimate its ranks.  America has always had a 2-party system with third parties routinely failing or being absorbed into one of the two major parties. As a third party, the MAGA party will be no different, if history repeats itself, and the Republican party will splinter. Plus, as usual when things involve Trump, there is no plan – sources on deep background say that Trump merely wants to form a Third party as revenge against a few members of the Republican leadership who dared to certify the election in favor of Joe Biden, as well as to push back against the Senate impeachment hearing.

After 60+ lawsuits, some of which were rejected by Trump-appointed judges, and multiple recounts – as many as three manual hand counts in Georgia alone – there is no proof of a fraudulent election…anywhere.  Trump has $70 million in his coffers for this fight.  It might sound like a lot of money in his PAC but, in the big scheme of things, he’ll burn through it in 2 weeks with the media blitz he is preparing against his impeachment.

Lawyers representing the anarchists who broke into the Capitol are putting the blame for instigating the insurrection squarely on Trump in order to absolve their clients of any wrongdoing and the anarchists are throwing Trump under the bus. One of the attorneys said, “Just watch the last three months of lies from President Trump leading up to the certification.  His actions were criminal and our investigation will not only absolve our clients but will provide assistance for the impeachment hearing.”

-The AP reports that Trump sent White House staff home an hour before Biden and Jill arrived so no ushers would be available to open the door to the White House and let them in.  There’s a picture of our 46th president and his wife sort of huddled – it looks super cold in Washington D.C. -  in front of the entrance, unable to walk inside their new quarters.  A butler reports that Trump actually fired him a few hours earlier. Typical.

12:45-1:30 – Kitchen duty.  I ready my coffee for tomorrow morning.

1:30-2:00 – I find a piece of pizza that L. must have previously ordered and eat it upstairs while watching the last episode of How to Fix a Drug Scandal.

2:30-3:45 – I accidentally fall asleep.

4:00-4:30 – Night time routine. Bed.
