Day 6 of rollback- California Covid spike-Governor shuts us down
Silverlake Reservoir…
7/18/20. Saturday.
7:00-9:00 - The dog is barking so I go downstairs and take her out. When we come inside, the bolt on the lift-up latch on the door breaks and I can’t fix it. I give the dog cheese then grab my coffee and return upstairs. Shower. Light make-up. Leggings, a T-shirt, and my New Balance tennis shoes.
9:00 – 12:00 - B. arrives and we drive to La Mill Coffee in Silverlake. We discover the coffee shop is closed for renovation when we arrive, so we go to Intelligencia instead. After we get our coffee, we can’t find the entry point to the Silverlake Reservoir where L. and I entered so many months ago and where a bench overlooking the reservoir is located. B. keeps saying, “Well, where is it?” and even though I’ve told him numerous times that L. was driving and I have no idea how to find the exact location, he asks repeatedly where to go, where to turn, etc. I just want to go home and say as much, but we end up parking at one section of the reservoir, walking along it, and coming across a small park, with tall shade trees. A few Silverlake members of the community are in the park and everyone is masking. It’s actually quite nice.
-B. returns to the car to get the foldable picnic blanket that I carry with me at all times (it folds into a mini- picnic blanket suitcase with a handle). This is a nice gesture as the car is parked some distance from the park. He returns and we spread the blanket under a shade tree and break out our food. As usual, I’ve packed a lunch for myself in my insulated lunch bag, complete with the frozen insert, and B. purchased a breakfast burrito at The Burrito Factory before he arrived at my house.
-Instead of looking at the lake, we are seated in front of an older neighborhood, with beautiful architecture, and we’re also in front of homes embedded in the surrounding hills. The day is largely salvaged and we sit on the picnic blanket, eating our food and enjoying the scenery, until 12:00.
12:00-5:00 – To B’s house, and we sit on the patio, having drinks and looking out at his “golf course” backyard, before he takes me home.
5:00-9:00 – I lay down for a minute to rest my eyes and have the best nap I’ve had in years. I have no idea where I am or what time it is when I wake up.
9:00-11:00 - L. informs me it’s 9:00 and we watch Love After Lock-up a few minutes later, while I eat leftover pizza that R. and L. bought a few days ago.
11:00-12:00 – Night time ritual. Bed.
