Day 4 of rollback - California Covid spike

Malibu Farms restaurant…

Malibu Farms restaurant…

Thursday. 7/16/20.

7:30 - 9:00 - the dog is barking so I go downstairs and take her out. No accidents! I take her outside, then give her cheese. I grab my coffee, then go upstairs and read Notes on a Silencing.

9:00-10:00 - Shower and I put on sweats, a tank top, and my New Balance tennis shoes because L. says I look “fashionable” when I wear my “good” tennis shoes. I have a few bites of my yogurt-apple mix.

10:15-11:30 - L and I drive to Malibu. It costs us $15 to park.

11:30 - 1:00 - We check in at Malibu Farms and they’ve changed the set-up. MF opens at 11:30 so everyone is masked and standing in line, social distancing, waiting to get in. Staff give us a menu and we place our order with the cashier and pay, THEN we’re allowed to pick our table. The Governor’s directive says that restaurants can only offer outdoor seating - L. and I sit outside, on the pier, and stare at the ocean. Beautiful. I’m a little ‘hinked’ up because the space is halfway contained with pexi-glass and umbrellas (you can see from the picture), so we’re not completely outside, AND there are other patrons who are seated near us. In theory, a Covid germ cloud could still move around, but I try not to think about it.

The “froze" [pronounced ‘frozay’] is trending [rose wine, vodka, peach something, etc., then turned into a slushee] so I order one and the cheese quesadilla. L. gets a peach smoothie and the crab cake, then later orders a watermelon juice, which is comped because it takes us 25 minutes just to get our drinks. It’s unclear why this is happening because we were the first to be seated, and yet, everyone who sat after us is served their drinks and some of them even get their food before we get ours. Recall that we ordered at the cash register before we picked our seats.

We finally get our drinks and food and everything tastes great! Plus, the ocean is so beautiful.

1:00-2:00 - L. and I drive home. The dog vomited on the couch so L. cleans it up and puts the cover in the washing machine.

2:30 - 4:00 - B. calls and invites me over for dinner at 6:00. He also bought some hand sanitizer for me at Costco. I try to take a nap.

L. leaves for work.

4:00 - 5:30 - I load the paint cans in my car for the future Dunn Edwards trip along with a few other things I need to give B. I put my hair up. Some makeup. I listen to the Political Gabfest. I drive to B.’s house.

6:00 - 9:30 - B. makes sausage and pasta, with marinara sauce, and it tastes good! We have Pellegrino water and watch The Grey Man - great, fast-paced movie - talk for a little bit and then I drive home.

10:00-12:30 - L. and I watch several episodes of Love After Lockup and scream at the TV.
