Tuesday. 8/4/20

Class enrollment increases to 19…

R. tests negative for Covid-19!!!

8:00 – L. has to work this morning and takes the dog out!  I get to sleep in!

9:00 – 11:00 - I go downstairs and give the dog pieces of chicken. I get my coffee, return upstairs, and listen to ABC World News; What a Day; NPR Politics; Start Here; and Up First. Shower. Bathing suit.

11:30 – 12:15 - I make an almond, strawberry, and avocado smoothie.  Then, I get my portable chaise lounge and set it up in the only patch of sun that exists in my backyard (I would characterize my backyard as a shade garden and the sun travels through it in patches).  After the fiasco at my community pool last week, I give up ever going there again. I listen to Nice White Parents from This American Life.

12:15 – 12:45 - I sit at my patio table, in the shade, and drink water. I read a Money Diary.

1:00 – 1:30 - I move my chaise lounge to another traveling patch of sun. I continue listening to Nice White Parents.

1:30 – 2:00 – I sit at my patio table, in the shade, and drink water. I read another Money Diary.

2:00-2:30 – I move my chaise lounge to yet another traveling patch of sun and turn over. I finish Nice White Parents.

2:30-3:00 – Light shower to wash off the sunscreen. Covid-19 uniform of yoga pants and tank top. I listen to Today Explained.

3:00 – 3:45 - I take note that the day is over and I have done absolutely nothing. At least my water intake is up. In my neverending quest to create an appropriate retirement routine, I realize today’s routine still ain’t it. I grab the salad that I made yesterday, enter my office, and go to work.

4:00-6:30 - Several students from College No. 1 are asking questions about my two boutique classes and a few still need to try and waive the prerequisite requirement.  I pull information from the Course Catalog, answer their questions, and give advice.

I alternate between addressing student concerns and online news.

I check College No. 2 email – nothing of importance, BUT my Canvas “shell” is still not posted, which means I have absolutely no way of communicating with my high school students in the duel enrollment program.  Without that ‘shell’, I have no idea who’s enrolled or how to reach out to them.  It’s as if they don’t exist…and, yet, I’m supposed to teach class, virtually, on 8/19/20 at 8:00.  I’m completely dependent on the IT Dept. from College No. 2 to post the shell. When they will post it is anybody’s guess…

7:00-8:00 – I do a 1-hr HIIT full body circuit app, to include weights.

8:00-10:30 – Yard work. The yard was really neglected since I was in Vegas and it takes a couple of hours to sweep, trim, and water my plants. I listen to Fresh Air – The End of Local News and Southern Fried Crime while I work.

10:30 – 12:00 - I pull out my Foreman grill, roll a pound of ground turkey into 5 turkey burgers, and grill them. I add feta cheese, red onions, spinach leaves, and tomatoes and eat two.  No buns. As usual, the kitchen is a disaster – it takes forever to clean the Foreman grill and everything else (no removable plates in the grill). I listen to True Crime Garage.

12:00-1:00 – Nighttime routine and bed.  I was able to salvage the day at the end.
