Day 19 - LA County enters Red Tier

Working on assignments for my French Cinema class…

4/2/21. Friday

8:00 –8:30 -  I set my alarm for 7:45, but lie in bed until 8:00 listening to The Daily. Then, I drag myself out of bed and go downstairs to greet the animal.  This is way too early for her and she’s still asleep so I wake her up by rubbing her tummy three times.  She grabs her toy and outside we go so she can do her business. I trim a few plants while the dog is indisposed. Back inside for her treat – salami slices – and coffee for me.

8:30-10:00 – Shower. Lotion. Nice top with yoga pants.  Eyelashes today, because I might be on camera. Spackle on the make-up.

10:00-1:30 - B. arrives for “patio coffee.” We sit outside and talk politics.

-At 11:00, I Zoom into DE#2 for the 11:00-3:00 meeting that we have every Friday. Then, I return to the patio. B. and I talk politics.

-12:00 – I check in with the meeting to see how things are going and if I’m supposed to make a cameo appearance.  It doesn’t seem like it, so I return to the patio. As stated earlier (multiple times), it is unclear why this class is even being held when we return to the classroom in just three months.  Some of my colleagues return in 3 WEEKS for summer session to start a strange “hybrid” model that nobody knows anything about.  None of the instructors have received any training as to how they will teach 8 students in the classroom and 30 students at home, simultaneously. Instead, every Friday, we Zoom in from 11:00-3:00, to learn a skill that will be obsolete in about three months.

I return to the patio.

1:45 – B. leaves and I report to my Zoom meeting for the last hour. 

I start setting up an AUDIO-lecture for Specialty Class 1A.  I try to grade papers but don’t get very far.

3:00-4:00 – I heat up my mahi-mahi leftovers, zucchini, and pinto beans – everything tastes even better than yesterday.  I read Small Fry.

4:00-4:45 – I take the dog for a walk.

4:45 – 6:00 – Gardening. I sweep the patio and clean leaves out of some of the pots.

6:00 – 8:00 – Because I’m completely “made-up”, I’m going to batch task and film a video of me discussing La Haine and Les Mis for one of my French Cinema assignments. I don’t want to “wash, rinse, repeat eyelashes” anytime soon and I planned to record my video on this day. I review the notes I made for each movie and see that I made a reference to Rear Window for both – great! a common theme.  I’ve already provided summaries of these films in my blog, so I pull from there and start trying to merge them into a cohesive piece.

8:00-9:30 – I have to return to the films to view various scenes that I want to incorporate into my assignment and this takes some time.

9:30 – 11:00 – I write my script.

11:00-12:30 – I record my 2-minute video (I make several attempts).  I’m not happy with the sound quality and I look totally washed out due to the fact that my computer is 13 years old.  Oh well – it’s the best I can do.

1:00-2:00 – I do an Insanity workout. This one is called Cardio Pylometric.

2:00-3:00 - Recover and I have a glass of champagne.  The next film we’re watching in French Cinema is Divines so I stream it from Netflix and start taking notes, but I accidentally fall asleep.

3:00-3:30 – Nighttime routine. Bed.
