Day 14 of rollback-California Covid spike-Governor shuts us down

For the past two weeks, there has been a run on plastic dispenser pumps, coins, lumber, and cans (the type of cans needed for canned vegetables and fruit). Stores can no longer make exact change…

My retirement cake!!

My retirement cake!!

7/26/20. Sunday.

Class enrollment holding steady at 13…

9:00 - 11:00 - B. leaves to get Starbucks and I take a shower and get ready. He returns and we drink our coffee at his patio table and look out over his “golf course” backyard.

11:00-12:00 - I drive home, unpack my bag, and start a load of laundry. I have a salad, then L. and I leave for my Mom and Dad’s house, to celebrate my retirement with cake and champagne!

12:00-4:00 - There’s a road detour so we’re running a bit late. L. and I arrive and we social distance outside, with L and I on the porch swing and Mom and Dad on chairs, about 12 ft away. Mom bought a bottle of Prosecco, which we open immediately, followed by cake. The cake is exceptional with a creamy, whipped-cream filling and butter-cream frosting. The porch is covered and Dad plugs in some fans - it’s very comfortable! and works out fine. There’s something to be said about social distancing and “entertaining in the garden” (spoken with an English accent). I like al fresco dining. We talk politics, Covid 19, my retirement, and my upcoming classes at College No. 1 and No. 2 - it’s very nice. Mom and Dad give me $500, 4 bottles of champagne, and a box of books that, at first glance, I know I’ll definitely read all of them.

5:00 - L. and I return home and I decide to take a short nap.

10:30 p.m. - I can’t believe I slept this long! I’m wide awake and ready to start my day… this is crazy.

11:00-12:30 - L. and I watch Love After Lockup and scream at the TV.

12:30 - 1:00 - I TRY to do a 1-hr full body circuit app, to include upper and lower body toning, but only make it 30 minutes. This is my first time doing the app and it’s tough!

1:00 - 1:30 - I do a load of laundry, wipe down my bathroom counters, and clean my toilet. Then, I pack my beach bag for tomorrow’s swimming session [12:00-1:00] and load my convertible chaise chair in the trunk.

1:30-2:00 - I straighten the kitchen, do the dishes, and prepare my coffee for tomorrow. I take my clothes out of the washing machine and hang them to air dry.

2:00-3:00 - Nighttime ritual. Bed.
