Day 13 of rollback-California Covid 19 spike - Governor shuts us down

Piccola Trattoria…

Piccola Trattoria…

7/25/20. Saturday

Class enrollment moves to 14…

9:00 - 10:00 - The dog sleeps in, but eventually starts barking, so I go downstairs and take her out. Cheese. I grab my coffee and return upstairs to pack a bag for tonight.

11:00-12:30 - Shower. Spa day. The dog vomits in two locations downstairs and L. gathers the cleaning supplies from the kitchen as I don’t do vomit. When we return to the living room, the vomit is gone (she ate it). After seeing that, I almost vomit myself.

12:30-2:00 - I eat my salad, then drive to Goodwill in Porter Ranch and drop off my used books. On the way home, I stop off at Ed Davis Park at Towsley Canyon to check out the hiking trail - Taylor Trail. There are several cars in the parking lot, which means that several people are probably hiking. A sign says that Taylor Trail, which is part of Rivendale Ranch, is 17 miles. Looks interesting.

Of note, I discover that next to Ed Davis Park is what appears to be a movie lot, with an authentic 1950’s gas station, complete with old-fashioned gas pumps. There’s a fake buffalo near the fence, and further up the hill is a fake deer. All of this is really cool and I can’t believe I never knew this place existed. I also drive by something called Newhall Pass, which looks like another interesting hiking trail.

2:30-4:00 - I water all of my plants then take a nap.

4:00-5:30 - I take my braids out and put on make-up and a summer dress. Then, I load everything into the car and drive to B.’s house.

5:30-8:00 - We drive to Piccola Trattoria for our dinner reservations that B. made to celebrate my retirement!!! The Governor has banned all INdoor dining, but Piccola has a covered patio section that they’re using. I’m a little concerned as the patio area is mostly covered and feels contained. Windows are open, with blinds half down, and there are several ceiling fans. In a huge stroke of luck, we are placed at the table in front of a huge, industrial fan right behind my chair. Although B. and I can barely hear each other, I feel safe because the industrial fan directly behind me is blowing the Covid-19 away from me and back into the restaurant.

I have a dinner salad, ravioli zucca, and two glasses of champagne. B. has a dinner salad, veal pasta, and two glasses of Pinot Grigio. We split a blueberry crumb cake with vanilla ice cream for dessert. I love my retirement dinner and B. later gives me two retirement cards with a $50 Starbuck gift card inside. I have a great time!

8:00-10:00 - B. and I sit at the patio outside and look out at his “golf course” backyard, while we have drinks.

10:00-11:00- We watch another episode of The Innocence Files, then bed. A nice day.
