Ostrichland…
B. at Ostrichland…
2/2/21. Tuesday.
6:00 – 6:30 - I set my alarm for 6:30, but I wake up a little earlier. I lie in bed for the next 30 minutes.
6:30 – 7:00 - Downstairs and the dog can’t figure out what’s happening. I’m never up this early and she is completely out of it. I quickly take her outside and then cheese for her, coffee for me. I go upstairs, collapse in my chair, and read Dancing for the next 30 minutes.
7:00 – 8:00 - Technically, today is not a shower day, BUT I’m having difficulty waking up so will have to take a shower after all. Lotion. Light make-up. I put on the clothes I laid out last night. Straighten my room and bathroom.
8:00 – 12:00 – B. arrives and we leave for Ostrichland and Solvang.
-Bad news. There’s an overturned big rig on the 101. B. and I are on the road for 4 hours and stuck in traffic throughout most of it.
12:00 – 1:00 - B. and I are passing through Santa Barbara when I remember L.’s recommendation for Finneys. B. and I find it and have an excellent lunch! State Street is empty and so is the restaurant. I have a chicken and waffle appetizer and a wonderful glass of champagne. B. has the pulled pork sandwich.
1:00 –2:15 - Back on the road and B. and I arrive at Ostrichland at 1:30. I purchased tickets for 12:00, but nobody seems to care. B. and I are given bowls of food and we walk through the ranch, feeding the ostriches. They’re aggressive and I’m scared they’re going to peck my fingers off! Typically, I don’t post pictures of myself for this blog, but I couldn’t resist. I’m at the top. B. is there, too.
2: 15 – 3:30 - B. and I continue on to Solvang and have coffee and pastries at a cute bakery with automatons making bread and drinking coffee. Seriously, they’re real robots that the owner has set up in the restaurant. I have an apple streudel and it’s incredible. After, we walk along “main street” and find an expensive antique store – a grandfather clock costs $65,000!!
3:30- 5:30 – We head for home and the drive back is much more reasonable. No traffic accidents.
5:30 – 8:30 - Home and Cocktail Hour!! B. and I watch several episodes of The Flight Attendant. We’ve almost finished the series.
-B. leaves.
-L. and R. arrive from somewhere??? and make dinner. Under L.’s direction, R. helps make an excellent butternut squash soup and salad. L. bought bread from the Cheesecake Factory and it turns out to be an excellent meal. They graciously share dinner with me.
8:30-9:30 – I take my dinner upstairs. Delish!
9:30-11:00 – I accidentally fall asleep after dinner.
11:00-11:30 – I bring my tray downstairs and am shocked to see that L. and R. did the dishes and cleaned the kitchen!! I make my coffee for tomorrow and take the dog out.
11:30-12:30 – I listen to True Crime Garage. Night time routine. Bed.
