Day 64 - Governor Newsom imposes new restrictions

NOT L.’s work, but you get the general idea…

1/18/21. Monday. Holiday [MLK Day]

8:30 – Awake.  Back to sleep

11:30- 12:00 - Up and I go downstairs to greet the animal. She’s been awake for hours and pooped right in front of the doggie door. This means she was inches away from going outside to do a No. 2, but thought better of it and crapped right in front of her little door instead (sigh). Outside, and she goes potty. Back inside for cheese.  I pick up the dog poop while I heat up my coffee.

12:00–1:30 – I read two Money Diaries and start Sex and Lies, a book about the sexual oppression of Morrocan women.

1:30-3:00 – Blog post. I listen to PBS News Segments and BBC Global News

-L. is working on her art portfolio for her UCLA application.

3:00-4:00 – I have a pre-made spinach salad with carrots, zuchinni, tomatoes, and cheese with a piece of the parmesan breaded chicken I made the other night. I read another Money Diary.

4:00-5:00 –Shower. Lotion. Covid-19 uniform. I listen to On Point.

5:00-6:00 – I braid my hair and listen to Southern Fried Crime.

6:30-7:15 – I take the dog for a walk and listen to Organize 365.  After, I bring my trash cans in – one of the trash cans is missing. Great. I start a load of laundry.

7:15-8:00 – Yard work.  I clean the fountain and sweep.  I trim dead leaves off some of the plants, then dump more red rock into the flower bed. I start a load of laundry. More Organize 365.

8:00-9:00-L. asks me to review her portfolio for UCLA and it looks fantastic.  She tells me that since she is a transfer student with a 4.00 GPA, she’s in the top 9% for consideration.  It seems very promising.  After reviewing her portfolio, L. thinks she needs a “profile” picture and creates a pencil drawing of a woman in about an hour.  How do these artists do it?

L. tells me that she has made a slight error with her college schedule. She’s taking 5 classes right now, during Winterintersession and thought they ended in 5 weeks – they don’t.  Some of these classes will run 8 weeks and overlap with Spring Semester, which means from February to March 23, she will be taking NINE art classes. Generally, I try to be positive but NINE art classes?  This seems like a true impossibility as there is so much work involved. OMG. According to L.’s calculations, in June, she will have completed her AA transfer requirements and obtained an AA Degree in Art.

9:30-10:30 – I do a HIIT 1-hr Full Body Circuit app with 5-lb weights. I listen to Organize 365 while I work out.

10:30-11:00 – Kitchen duty and I prepare my lunch bag and coffee for tomorrow.

-L and R. are watching a movie together, over the phone.  He’s still quarantined.

11:00-11:15 – I hang my laundry and start the drier.

11:30 – 12:30 - L. and I watch episode 3 of Nightstalker.  She’s already watched the series.

12:30-1:00 – Night time routine. Bed.
