Day 60 of Governor Newsom’s “Blueprint for a Safer Economy”
L.’s Dad is a “Trumper”…
Monday. 10/26/20
7:45 - 8:15 - My alarm goes off so I go downstairs and say ‘good morning’ to the dog. I rub her tummy, then we go outside and she goes potty. Cheese for her, coffee for me. I head to my office for lecture.
8:30-11:00 – This morning’s class is the first class of the week for my 8-week accelerated course. While class rolls on, I update attendance for my three classes at College No. 2. I fell a little behind last week with attendance but everything is now current. I update the online grade book and send email prompts to students who have NOT been signing in on the Discussion Board.
11:00-12:00 – I talk to B.
12:00–1:00 - I have the salad I prepared yesterday and read Money Diaries.
1:00-2:00 – Shower. Covid-19 uniform.
2:30-6:00 – Specialty Class No. 1 begins. I send an email blast to the students reminding them how important it is to sign in on the Discussion Board on time, especially since there are only a few weeks left in the semester. I also notify students who have Fs and Ds in the class that next week is the last day to drop with a W.
As usual, the same student emails me around 3:30 to complain about…nothing. Today’s complaint du jour is the audio lecture. The student claims there is a crackling noise as it plays and faults me for the poor recording. No. I instruct her to log out of Canvas, then log back in. I don’t hear from her again.
-I grade Extra Credit essays while class rolls on.
4:30-5:00 – I take the dog for a walk.
5:00-6:30 – My ex is trying to get a new relationship off the ground and flew into California from South Carolina. Unfortunately, he is not physically attracted to his new love interest, although the conversation between them is good, and he will be returning home sooner than expected.
He and L. arrive, so I sit and talk to my ex for awhile and try not to gag on his alt-right views, which come directly from Fox News. Did I mention he’s a Trumper? L. and I tag-team him with our leftist, feminist agenda and political opinions. You’re in a blue state, now. South Carolinians go home!
6:30-8:30 – I’ve been working on a white supremacy lecture for Specialty Class No. 2 and I really want to get it right. I adjust my script and PP slides (again) and start adding new material to shore up the lecture.
8:30-9:00 – I have leftovers from Nobu and a salad for dinner.
9:00-10:30 – I try to transcribe a podcast addressing white supremacy as it relates to early Christianity, but I keep falling asleep. I grade a couple of Extra Credit essays in an attempt to engage my mind and wake up. I’m only partially successful.
11:00-12:00 – I do a 45-min Pilates/Yoga app. Still tired.
12:00-1:00 – Kitchen duty and I make my coffee for tomorrow. Then, I shut down the Halloween lights and take the dog out.
1:00-2:00 – Nighttime routine and I re-watch Unsolved Mysteries as I get ready for bed because I like the show. I set my alarm for 7:30 again.
