A sample cheese plate from the internet…L.’s cheese plate is much better!

3/6/21. Saturday.

9:15 – 10:15 - I’m up at 9:15 because B. wants to get up at 9:15. Head straight to the shower, then lotion.  Covid-19 uniform. Light make-up. I pack my bag and load up the car. B. leaves and returns with Starbucks.

10:30-11:30 – We sit outside on his patio, under the new heat lamp that he bought – a restaurant, industrial-strength heat lamp.  It’s really nice.  I drink my coffee and eat a few pieces of croissant that B. bought for me. B. drinks his coffee and eats…something?? We talk politics.

11:30 – 12:30 - B. deems breakfast over and wants to go inside to watch an episode of Justified, a new show that he’s been watching.  The show started in 2010 and ran about 6 seasons so it must be good – it went the distance.  We watch the pilot…not bad. After, we coordinate our calendars.  B. is leaving on a trip soon – I’d like to get a bike ride in before he goes.

-Time for me to leave.

12:45 – 1:00 – Driving.

1:00- 2:00 – Home and unpack a few things.  My little dog has not had a walk recently so we go right now.  She’s so happy!

2:00-3:30 – Yard work. I pull leaves out of the red-rock bed, sweep the patio, and trim some plants.  I also add potting soil to two pots.

3:30-4:30 – I read In the Shadow.

-L. surfaces and starts assembling this wonderful cheese plate and charcuterie board that she made for a birthday party she’s attending tonight!  It looks amazing – the presentation is so beautiful as she has the cheese plate featured on a ‘lazy Susan.’ L. said she worked on it from 12:00 midnight until 4:30 in the morning [she had to leave for work at 7:00] and then identifies the contents of the cheese plate for me, as well as ‘spreads’ that she made from scratch. I get to sample some of the treats and the food is incredible.  I know a lot of time, energy, and  effort went into this gourmet ‘work of art.’  What a wonderful and creative child…sorry, I mean young woman…

-Scared that something will happen to this cheese plate during transport, I go out to the garage and find the perfect box.  Unfortunately, it’s filled with books (future reads), so I quickly dump the books and then L. and I wedge the cheese plate securely in the box. This thing won’t move, even if there’s a car accident! I throw in several ziplock bags so L. can bring home leftovers (fingers crossed).

-R. arrives to take L. to the party.

-I return to In the Shadow.

4:30-7:00 – Reading In the Shadow

7:00-8:00 – I do an Insanity workout (this one’s called Cardio Power and Resistance).  It’s a 40-minute workout, but I can’t bring myself to do the last 5 minutes of the video – too exhausted.  I do 35 minutes, but have to stop a few times to catch my breath, so the workout actually takes 60 minutes because I pause the video every time I stop. There’s a couple of sections where I don’t get in as many reps as Sean T. [owner of the Insanity franchise] because I’m slower than everyone else – this is a really tough workout and even the ‘athletes’ in the video are collapsing on the floor during the 30-second breaks. I try my best, though, and I’m pretty satisfied with my progress thus far.

8:00-8:30 – Recover.

8:30-10:30 – I watch I Care A Lot.  Great movie!  A+!

10:30-12:30 – In my office, and I do some personal admin. L. needs a “magazine holder” solution for her artwork so I find one and order it.

-Find sustainable K-cups from San Francisco and order those, per L.’s referral.  She says they’re better for the environment. Why do they have to be more expensive?

-I was thinking about going to Lotus Land with B., but when I research it further, I see that it’s $50 a person for a “2-hour, self-guided tour.”  I don’t think so.

-B. is ready for the last chapter of Specialty Class #1 so I email him the AUDIO-lecture, Google slides, and accompanying supplementary material [podcasts and a documentary].

-I check my DE class to see if, by chance, the Anonymous Grader reviewed my stuff.  Nope.

-L. returns.  She had a great time with R.’s friends and everyone LOVED the cheese plate and charcuterie board!  In fact, L. says they “devoured” it.  Apparently, L. was the only one who brought food – everyone else brought beer – so the “party goers” loved it. The best news of all…there are LEFTOVERS!!  Yay!!

12:30-1:30 – I check my French Cinema class.  I’m in Group 2 and I’m supposed to respond to TWO posts from Group #1.  The deadline for Group #1 was yesterday, so I log in to see which posts I want to respond to; however, there are only FIVE posts.  That’s it!?  There are 24 people in the class and 12 people per group.  One of the members who posted isn’t even from Group #1, which means only FOUR people followed the directions. I try to come up with ideas for my two responses, but nothing is happening.  Maybe if I sleep on it…

-L. made a special charcuterie board, just for me, while I was working.  How nice!  She identifies the items and then I proceed to eat the entire board – it’s sooo good!

1:30-2:30 – I clean the kitchen and ready my coffee for tomorrow.

2:30-3:30 – I select my outfit and accessories, touch up my nail polish, and get everything ready for my shower. Night time routine. Bed. I sleep with sponge rollers in my hair tonight.
