Day 6 since I was injected with the J&J vaccine
Still wondering if a blood clot will develop…
4/14/21. Wednesday
9:30 –11:00 - I’m awake and I slowly ease out of bed. 103 pounds. I knew it. I drank champagne during the wee hours of the morning and it didn’t metabolize fast enough, resulting in a 1-pound weight gain. In the future, no champagne after 1:00 or 2:00 a.m. Check and redirect.
The corner of my right eye is extremely red – I try more Visine. Is this a side effect from the J&J vaccine? It’s very stressful waiting around for my heart to stop or to suddenly start slurring my words…
Downstairs to say good morning to the dog, but she is…gone. She must be outside so I don’t bother to call her because the silence is soooo nice. Just as I put my coffee in the microwave, the dog shoots through the doggie door like a bullet, then jumps on me. Outside we go, so she can go potty. Return inside and cheese for her, coffee for me.
-I sit outside, at my patio table, and prepare blog posts.
11:00-12:00 – Shower. Lotion. Covid-19 uniform. Light make-up.
12:00 – L. and I are supposed to leave at 12:00 for Lancaster so she can drop off a piece of Anime art, but I really need to check email at College No. 1, especially since they have a Socratic Seminar assignment due on Monday. What if they have questions?
I knew this would happen. I just went down the e-mail rabbit hole after one of the students emailed me to complain that the page numbers I referenced in the Socratic Seminar assignment were incorrect. Apparently, I am still using the 7th edition, while my students are using the brand new 10th edition and the page numbers don’t match up. Although L. and I should have left by now, I need to substitute the page numbers with chapter headings so the students can find the reference material. I complete this task then send an email blast to everyone. Fantastic.
12:30-1:30 – L. and I leave.
Driving.
I can’t stop thinking about the J&J vaccine. I feel fine now, but at any moment I could be knee-capped by a blood clot. Will there be any warning? Will it be a gradual progression of pain or a sudden stabbing in my chest, brain, or leg? Do I really have to examine my thoughts like this for the next 14 days? Sitting around, afraid and powerless, waiting for something to happen? Whenever I feel a slight twinge, anywhere in my body, I immediately think I have a blood clot and I’m going to die. It’s depressing, living like this.
L. and I arrive at the house in question and L. completes the exchange – one Anime print for $100.
1:30-2:00 - We phone in our orders for chili and cornbread at The Whole Wheatery and then L. drives to my college and slowly circles the perimeter. Yes, it’s just as I remembered it from Thursday, except worse, if that’s possible. I wasn’t able to see the entire campus last week, but this time L. has access and we can see everything. What. a. mess. The campus looks like a dump. If the president thinks the enrollment was down last semester, wait until he sees Fall Semester 2021. The students will arrive on the first day of school, take one look at this construction site, and leave. They will never come back. Why should they return to campus anyway, especially after they’ve been able to attend class in the privacy of their own homes for an entire year? The state of the campus is disappointing and I’m really scared about my 2021 Fall Semester enrollment numbers. If I don’t have enough students the first three weeks, my classes are canceled.
2:00-2:30 – We pick up our food and head home.
2:30-3:30 – Driving
3:30-4:30 – Home and I eat my chili and cornbread and read a Money Diary. Again, I have this overwhelming fatigue and need to lie down. I don’t think this is normal. Am I tired because of the J&J vaccine? Is this fatigue due to a blood clot?
-L. goes to work.
4:30-6:00 – Nap.
6:30-7:30 – I take the dog for a walk. I feel a slight stab in my calf muscle. Is this what a blood clot feels like?
7:30-9:00 – Gardening. I sweep leaves, deadhead and trim my plants. Then, I water everything.
9:00-11:00 – In my office. I prepare the “combo” lecture and Discussion Board for my class tomorrow evening, then post the same content to next week’s Monday afternoon class.
-I check my French Cinema class and my teacher posted a Discussion Board prompt concerning the Zoom meeting with the famous director that we need to respond to right away. Of note, is the fact that my teacher provided the link to my testimonial and then told the students to read it! I re-post some of my comments from my testimonial so I can get full credit for the Discussion Board post.
-I tighten up my script for Chapter 11 -Part I in my Specialty 1A Class and pick music clips to insert between the slides. I’m ready to record.
11:00-11:30 – Tidy up the kitchen, take the dog out, and lock up. I prepare my coffee for tomorrow.
11:30-12:30 – I do an Insanity-Cardio and Resistance workout.
12:30-1:00 – Recover.
1:00-2:00 – Blog post, but I keep falling asleep.
2:00-2:45 – Night time routine. I leave my bedroom door unlocked again.
I’m afraid to fall asleep. What if I have a stroke?
My eye is throbbing and there is a dull ache behind the lid. I find some prescription eye drops from 2019 and put a drop in my eye. My eye is very red. Is this just pink eye or a side effect from the J&J vaccine? I’m scared.
Bed.
