Day 6 - Governor Newsom imposes new restrictions

First day of Detox…

Saturday. 11/14/20.

9:00 - 10:30 - I’m up but I lie in bed for awhile, listening to PBS News Hour segments. I’m doing a “detox” for the next week which means no caffeine, no sugar, no alcohol, no anything - just “food in its whole and natural state” and no more than 1 serving of fruit per day, which is supposed to be eaten in the morning.

Downstairs and I take the dog out. She pooped in the house, near the stairs, this morning. Outside and she goes potty, then back inside for her treat. Bacon for her and green tea for me. I do the dishes and drink my tea.

In my office and I compile a grocery list for L. and read online news.

10:30 - 1:00 - I go back upstairs, read a Money Diary, then start grading papers. I have approximately 100 papers, 3 to 4 pages each, to grade. Headache coming on from the caffeine withdrawal. I listen to This is Uncomfortable , Organize 365, and The New York Times Book Review.

1:00 - 2:00 - I come up for air and make two eggs, over easy, and add tomatoes and celery. I drink my Hydroflask of water with ‘brunch’ and read a Money Diary.

-L. leaves to get multiple bottles of vegetable juice from Pressed Juicery.

2:00-3:00 - I get dressed, then take the dog for a walk. I have a few apple slices with almond butter - that’s it for my fruit serving. More water.

3:00-6:00 - More papers. I listen to Today Explained, the Global News Podcast, Marketplace, and Airtalk. I have some hot green tea.

L. leaves to pick up her friend A. at a restaurant.

6:00 - 7:00 - I find some frozen pieces of chicken that I cut up months ago and heat them up in the microwave. The chicken is dry, but I don’t care.

7:00-8:00 - I watch a You Tube video from Olivia Kissper ASMR and accidentally fall asleep.

8:00-9:00 - I’m up. Kitchen duty - there is no food in the house. L. is going to the grocery store tomorrow. I give the dog water and take her outside.

9:00-12:00 - L. and A. return to the house briefly - I stay upstairs and don’t come down. Headache. Cramps. I try to grade papers, but I have not made a dent in this stack. I switch to preparing some blog posts instead. I listen to Market Place, Air Talk Film Week, and Tom Brown’s Body.

12:00-1:00 - I do a 40-minute Pilates and Yoga app. I can’t believe how stiff I am. I’m hungry but I’m too tired to do anything about it.

1:00-2:00 - Night time routine. Bed.
