Day 48 of rollback-California Covid-19 spike - Governor shuts us down
Me, waiting for L. to come home…
Saturday. 8/29/20
8:30 - 11:00 - I’m up and I take the dog out. Then we go inside and I give her cheese. I grab my coffee and go upstairs. I absolutely refuse to do any work today.
I finish Seal Team Six and have apple slices with peanut butter.
11:00-12:00 - Shower and I start listening to podcasts that I flagged for Specialty Class No. 2, because I thought they might be interesting. I listen to This American Life - #700 - Embiggening - Act Two.
12:00-3:30- I catch up on my blog posts.
I eat L. and R.s old Chinese takeout food while I post.
“Lisa” from Blue Sky Windows and Doors calls to say she overbooked Mike and he will now come on FRIDAY, between 10:00 and 2:00 (sigh).
4:00-5:00 - I do a 1-hr HIIT Full Body Circuit app with weights.
5:00-6:30 - I watch a documentary called Wombs for Rent, about surrogate mothers in India because I might show it in Specialty Class No. 1.
L. leaves for a live-stream Metallica concert with R. and R.’s Mom. Metallica is performing live in Napa and streaming it to various parking lots throughout Southern CA, while people remain in their cars. L. is heading to Ventura.
6:30-8:00 - I go to Whole Foods to pick up some prosecco-in-a-can 4-packs. I see a pkg of tiny sushi salmon rolls and get that, too. Then, I pull out money from my ATM for my upcoming therapy session.
8:00-9:00 - I eat my salmon rolls with champagne and read Mothership.
9:00-10:00 - I talk to B.
10:00-11:30 - I clean the kitchen and prepare breakfast and lunch for tomorrow: overnight oats, apples slices, zucchini slices, hummus, and the rest of L. and R.’s chicken and rice Chinese food (I think this stuff is 6 days old so I’m really pushing it). I listen to Fresh Air - A call for Reparations: Nikole Hannah-Jones on The Wealth Gap AND The Weeds - The War on Bad Statues.
11:30-1:00 - Nighttime routine and I wait for L. to come home. I listen to Reveal - Monumental Lies about the Confederate monuments. It’s so good and relevant to Specialty Class No. 2 that I decide to reformat lecture this Thursday and introduce it. I’m soooo glad ‘past’ me flagged it for ‘future’ me.
1:00-3:45 - I wait for L. to get home, but she doesn’t appear until 3:45 a.m.
For those of you who are currently raising or have ever raised a teenage daughter, I don’t need to say any more…
