Day 48 - Governor Newsom imposes new restrictions

Recapping my totals for 2020…

Recapping my totals for 2020…

1/2/21. Saturday.

10:30 – 11:00 - I lie in bed for awhile then finally get up and go downstairs. The dog is napping so I rub her tummy to wake her up and we go outside.  She goes potty on the red rocks today – weird.  Back inside we go for old, disgusting chicken pieces for her and coffee for me.

11:00-2:00 – Back upstairs and I finish Unraveling Oliver, while I have coffee and a few Sees candies.  This book was ok, but there is so much Irish angst as it takes place in Ireland – I have difficulty identifying with it. A horrible tragedy takes place in France, however.  The book starts off with Oliver beating his wife nearly to death and then, through a series of “interviews” with the characters, we start to piece together what happened. An underlying, potentially catastrophic subplot, designed to keep everybody guessing, involves the question, “Is Oliver black?  Maybe he’s not black.  Is he ‘passing?’ Who knows if Oliver is black?”  I think the better question is “Who cares if Oliver is black?”  I’m just not that interested in Oliver’s ethnicity and the fact that this subplot continuously surfaces throughout the book is an irritant.

2:00-3:00 – Shower. Covid-19 uniform.  There is not much going on with the news cycle right now as everything was shut down for the 2-week holiday.  I listen to Martinis and Your Money; NPR Up First; Organize 365; and a few PBS newscasts.

3:00-4:00 – I take the dog for a walk.

4:00-8:00 – I spend this time reconciling the data from 2020 so I can assess how my time was spent during “the year of the pandemic.”  I’m curious to see my totals. Spoiler Alert – see 12/31/20 for the final outcomes.  I was behind in my posts, as usual. This is a tedious project, albeit interesting. I listen to Fresh Air.

-R. arrives and he and L. spend the next couple hours cooking a fabulous meal!: pasta with marinara sauce and L.’s signature baked, mixed vegetable dish.  They also bought bread.  Based on the number of dishes left in the sink, this recipe looks very labor intensive.

8:00-10:30 – I make a plate and take everything upstairs.  I start Blackout, a memoir about a female alcoholic.

11:00-12:00 – I pull down the treadmill and do a 1-hr speed-walking app.

12:00-2:30 – Downstairs and I continue reconciling my 2020 data. I listen to the New Yorker – Politics; The Cut; and Fresh Air.

R. leaves and L. ends up cleaning the entire kitchen.

2:30-3:00 – Night time routine. Bed.
