Day 31 of rollback-California Covid-19 spike-Governor shuts us down

I made these…

I made these…

Wednesday. 8/12/20

10:00 - 12:00- If the dog was barking, I slept through it (see my last post regarding when I went to bed). When I go downstairs, she pooped in front of the door (sigh). I noted yesterday that today would be designated primarily for self-care. I grab my coffee and go upstairs. I listen to The Daily and Pop Culture Happy Hour. I read The Heart and Other Monsters and eat apples and almond butter.

L. goes to work. She finds out that in two weeks, her hours will be cut to two hours per week. She’s pretty upset about it.

12:00-1:00 - I have a salad and read The Heart and Other Monsters. I pull a recipe for orange juice marinade from the Internet, make it, then put the pork chunks that L. bought a few days ago in the marinade. I read online news then do a load of laundry.

2:30-5:00 - I color my hair and listen to What a Day while I put on the color. I read The Heart while the color sets. Shower. Dressed in work-out attire.

5:00-6:00 - I transform my home office into a home gym (by pulling down the treadmill) and do a 1-hr speed walking app.

6:00-7:00 - My stainless steel skewers finally arrived today. I clean the kitchen and get ready to make kebabs.

L. and R. surface and watch Love After Lockup while I cook.

7:00-10:30 - What a laborious process! I break out the Foreman grill and chop up yellow, green, and red peppers into chunks. I also add zucchini and some red onion left over from another recipe. I was going to skewer regular onions but there was a huge onion salmonella outbreak in California two days ago so I threw away all yellow onions in my possession, even onions I’ve had for a couple of weeks (can’t be too sure), but the red onions are fine. I thread everything onto the skewers and end up with 8 kebabs to grill. This is my first time making them and everything turns out ok. The pork and vegetables look like they’ve been cooked on a barbecue and are nicely blackened in places. I binge listen to Radio Rental episodes.

10:30-12:00- As usual, it looks like a bomb went off in the kitchen AND it is super hard to clean the Foreman grill. I listen to Today Explained.

12:30-1:30 - Night time routine. Bed.
