Day 31-Governor Newsom rescinds restrictions. Outdoor dining reinstated!

B. and I on the SB Zoo mini-train…

2/24/21. Wednesday

8:30-9:30 – I wake up to the sound of the ocean and lay in bed for the next hour.

9:30-10:30 – I make Keurig coffee and B. opens all the blinds so I can look at the sea.

10:30 -11:30 – B. goes poolside where the hotel is serving breakfast to see if there’s anything good while I take a shower. Lotion. Light make-up. Covid-19 uniform.  I pack my suitcase – we’re checking out.

11:30 – 12:00 - B. returns and says the breakfast looks good.  Down to the pool we go, although I don’t usually eat breakfast.  I brought apples and almond butter for this trip.  B. buys me a coffee and a French toast with all the fixings for himself.  The pool is beautiful.  There are a few people sitting in lounge chairs, but everyone is social distancing. B. and I sit poolside while he finishes his breakfast and I drink my coffee.

12:30-1:00 - Check-out time. Bye Mar Monte Hotel! We drive to the Santa Barbara Zoo!!  It’s within walking distance, but we just left the hotel so we drive there – B. also purchased a parking pass.

1:00-3:00 – At the zoo.  L. and I went a couple weeks ago, but we weren’t able to take the mini train that encircles the park.  B., however, bought tickets for the train so as soon as  we enter the park we get on the train. It’s a train for kids and B. has to fold his legs in like an accordion.  He’s a good sport about it, though, and the 15-minute train ride is really fun.  I learn more about the zoo this way.  After the train ride, we walk the entire zoo. I like the zoo, but feel guilty seeing the animals in their small enclosures.

3:00-4:30 – Driving home.

4:30-6:00 – B. drops me off, then leaves to get a screw from his house so he can hang my macramé mirror outside.

L. and R. are just leaving – they both go to work. 

I unpack, put everything away, and start a load of laundry.

6:00 – 10:00 - B. returns with PIZZA!!! He hangs the macrame mirror, then it’s time for Cocktail Hour!! and pizza.  We watch the most recent episode of The Investigation and the last two episodes of Murder at Middle Beach. Highly recommend both.

L. returns from work. 

10:30 – B. leaves. 

10:30-11:30 – Kitchen duty.  Night time routine. Bed.
