Day 29-Governor Newsom imposes new restrictions

Not exactly my backyard, BUT you get the general idea…

Not exactly my backyard, BUT you get the general idea…

12/14/20. Monday.

9:30 - Awake but I lay in bed until 10:30 - no dog to take out.

10:30 - 11:30 - Shower. Covid-19 uniform. Lite make-up. B. leaves for Starbucks.

11:30 - 1:00 - B. returns and we have Starbucks -I have the tinniest sliver of pumpkin pie - and then finish the last episode of Rm 2608. Very good - highly recommend!!! DSK is a pig.

1:30 - 2:30 - I load my car then go to Big Lots to see if I can get an exterior Xmas decoration to go under my front window. I’m shocked to find there is nothing left! And I do mean nothing. B. had mentioned this regarding Home Depot and referred to customers as “locusts.” I’m inclined to agree. I leave without getting anything. Streets are crowded with cars. We’re in the second week of our shelter-in-place order that most Californians are ignoring. The good citizens of California are supposed to shelter in place, yet I can buy yoga pants anytime I want at Kohls? Retail is still going strong. My new motto this month: “What pandemic?” BTW: 3000 Americans are dying every day from Covid-19 and the total since the pandemic began? 300,000+. But, if you want pots and pans at Home Goods, they’re having a 30% sale right now…

I eat the leftover salmon that B. packed for me in my car, in the Big Lots parking lot.

2:30 - 8:30 - Home and I unload/unpack everything and bring the trashcans in. Kitchen duty. Then, I spend the next four hours in my back yard, raking, trimming, re-potting, and putting up a few Xmas lights under the canopy. I fill a trashcan with leaves.

-L. returns from work

8:30 - 9:00 - I have a glass of champagne with the dog in my lap and sit outside at my patio table, surveying my hard work and the Xmas lights I hung. If this is what living/being alone is like, it’s not bad.

I don’t typically put Xmas lights in the back yard but thought I’d try something new. The backyard looks much better.

10:00-12:30 - I make a quinoa, cheese, vegetable-bake to tide L. and I over for a few days. This is a new dish for me and very labor intensive, as it requires lots of chopping and cheese grating. Also, I have to boil the quinoa first, before mixing it into the casserole and baking it for 30 minutes. Of course, kitchen duty and I pack a lunch bag for tomorrow: spinach salad, apple slices, almond butter, a few marshmallows and dark chocolate, prosecco-in-a-can, etc..

-L has the vegetable-bake and says it’s good. I’m not interested in eating it so I have some chips and salsa that L. brought home from Solitas.

12:30-1:00 - I spent soooo much time doing yard work, I think I’m exempt from exercise today, don’t you? Night time routine. Bed.
