Day 26 - Governor Newsom imposes new restrictions

Used books are finally dropped off today…

Used books are finally dropped off today…

12/11/20. Friday

9:00 – I wake up but decide to go back to sleep.

10:00 – 10:30 - I’m up and I go downstairs, afraid of what I might find because I usually greet the dog around 7:45.  Yep – she pooped near the front door.  She’s up and running around so we go outside and she goes potty.

10:30 – I quickly dress and leave for the Goodwill near my house so I can drop off the books.

11:00 – When I arrive, the employee in the parking lot is putting up a sign – NO DONATIONS.  They’ve only been open for an hour!!  I run up to the employee and beg him to take my books – he’s a young black kid, masked – and I’m masked – and he says it’s cool, I can drop them off.  Yay!!

11:30 – at Starbucks, getting a coffee and a Vente peach green tea with two classic pumps for L.  I have a Xmas cookie with my coffee when I get home.

12:00 – 4:00 - Home and I work on blog entries.

-L. leaves for work

-L. returns, on her lunch break, and then goes back to work

5:00-8:00 – I update attendance for my two College No. 2 classes, then I compile individual grades for the students and get them ready for posting.

A student emails me, demanding to redo several quizzes so he can increase his grade from a D to a C.  Is he serious?  The semester ended two days ago – maybe you should have thought of that when you decided NOT to watch the documentaries during class time and then blindly guessed at the answers on the accompanying video quiz. I email the student and explain that it wouldn’t be fair to those students who completed the quizzes and received the grade that they earned.

-L. returns from work with a Margarita pizza from CPK.  She graciously says I can have a slice AND the two pieces of bread that came with it.  L screams, “TGIF!!!  It’s Winter Break!!”  Her semester is over and mine almost is. L.’s Friday night plans consist of watching Home Alone II and eating her pizza and a corn dish she ordered. I’m working on grades tonight.

-A nice email comes in from the Administrative secretary from the high school where I taught virtually. Mrs. B told me that, “God willing”, they hope to have me back in person for Fall 2021.  She said that Administration had been checking in with the highschoolers throughout the semester and they all said they liked me and enjoyed the class.  Really??!!!  I thought those kids hated me…

8:00-8:30 – I take the dog for a walk.

9:00-10:00 – I have two slices of L.’s pizza.  She doesn’t seem to mind that I took two. I start a load of laundry.

10:00-11:00 – I talk to B.

11:00-12:00 – I do a 1 hr HIIT full body circuit with 5-pound weights.

12:00-12:30 – Night time routine. Bed.
