Day 2 - Teachers are eligible for the vaccine.
I watched this film for my French Cinema class today…
3/2/21. Tuesday
9:00 – 9:30 - I wake up naturally and guzzle water from my Hydroflask. Downstairs and say good morning to the dog. She’s asleep on the couch, but rolls over so I can rub her tummy three times. She grabs her toy and outside we go – she pooped on the patio (sigh). I clean it up and she does her business. Back inside we go: chicken for her and coffee for me.
9:30- 10:00 - I pop into my study and check my DE class. Did the Anonymous Grader review my assignments? No. Since I’m on Canvas, I check email at College No. 2 and respond to a few emails from students. I listen to What a Day.
10:00-10:45 – Shower. Lotion. Covid-19 uniform. Light make-up. I listen to The Daily.
-I leave for my therapy session with my lunch bag in tow.
10:45-11:00 – Driving.
11:00-11:30 – Session. My therapist received the second dose of the Moderna vaccine and suffered from chills the remainder of the day. She’s fine now. Her partner was vaccinated through Pfizer and received his second dose with no reaction.
-My session ends and I have apple slices with almond butter and few cashews in the car. I have two pieces of Hershey’s dark chocolate - mini bites.
11:30-12:30 – I get a smog check. This is the facility where I’ve been going for years and I like the vendor. Unfortunately, he is NOT masking and he’s a talker. This is very unnerving…although we are in a hangar of sorts, only the front of the shop is open. Otherwise, there are no windows or doors and we are very much in an enclosed, indoor space. The vendor doesn’t social distance either, as he talks to me and works on my car. I’m double-masked and can’t wait for him to finish so I can leave.
The car passes the smog test and I leave.
12:30-1:30 – ATM. To Whole Foods for my monthly supply of Prosecco-in-a-can. It’s so easy to transport small cans of champagne when B. and I travel. I listen to Organize 365.
1:30-1:45 – Driving.
1:45 – 2:30 – Home. I have leftovers from the White Bean and Chili meal that I made on Saturday and eat lunch on my patio. I scoop it out with chips from B.’s leftover Mexican meal and read a Money Diary.
-L. is home, on a Zoom meeting for college.
-2:30-3:30 – I read pgs 23-30 of my French Cinema text, per the Syllabus, in preparation for our first movie [Au Revoir Les Enfantes] [Goodbye Children]
3:30-4:00 – I check my DE class – my assignment isn’t graded BUT, I notice that, somehow, I’m able to advance to Module 10 while I wait for the grading of my Module 9 assignment.
-I read through Module 10 and then ask L. to screenshot the Discussion Board I created for Specialty Class 1A into the text box for my DE class. I submit the assignment.
4:00-5:30 – L. and I drive across the street to the other section of our neighborhood, park the car, and walk around the lake, sans dog.
5:30 – 6:00 – L. drives us to Starbucks and buys me a tall peppermint hot chocolate.
6:00 – 8:00 – Blog posts.
8:00-8:15 –I take a 13-question, multiple choice quiz in my French Cinema class, covering pages 23-30. I receive a 13 out of 13!
8:30 – 10:00 - Yard work. I sweep the patio and the leaves from the red rock garden. Then I water all of my plants. I trim a few branches here and there from the potted plants and listen to True Crime Garage.
10:30-12:30 – I watch the Les Enfants film for my French Cinema class. I really like it! The movie is about a boarding school for French boys that exists during Germany’s [Nazi’s] occupation of France [WWII]. The Gestapo finds three boys and a priest at the school who are in hiding – enrolled under fake names - because they’re Jewish. We find out from a voice over at the end of the movie that they all die in the concentration camps. The dog falls asleep in my lap and stays there throughout the entire movie.
I check to see if my DE assignments were graded. No.
12:30-2:15 – Another blog post and I post the three most recent posts to the blog. I’m officially caught up and on track.
2:15-3:15 - Night time routine. Bed.
