Day 17 of Governor Newsom’s “Blueprint for a Safer Economy”
Sunday. 9/14/20.
6:00 - Up and I go downstairs and say good morning to the dog. It’s too early for her and she can’t seem to wake up. I rub her tummy and she finally jumps down from the couch. Outside and she does her business. Inside and cheese. I warm up my coffee.
6:30-7:30 - Shower. Biking attire. Light make-up.
7:30-9:30 - B. arrives and we bike to Newhall along one of the many paseos in my community. It’s a nice ride, but I have to disembark and walk my bike up a few of the steeper sections of the bike path. The sad thing is these sections are really not that steep. Is it the bike or me? I’ll say again, I’m riding a bike with NO gears, but perhaps I’m more out of shape than I thought. Depressing. B. has a nice 10-speed??? [not sure of the make and model] so he’s able to zip along, while I’m behind most of the time, pedaling slowly. The return ride is a bit easier as it seems to be mostly downhill. I don’t have to do cardio today! Yay!
9:30 - 12:00 - We store the bikes in my garage and drive to Starbucks and B. buys me a coffee. Once home, we eat 3-day-old donuts from Crispy Creme outside on my patio and talk politics. I warned B. about the day-old donuts, but he said if I heat them up, it should be fine.
L. leaves to spend time with A., who just took her MCATs a few days ago.
12:00 - 1:00 - B. leaves, but asks if I want to come over to his house for dinner later so I agree. I almost never watch TV at my house, but if I’m at his house, I’m more inclined to watch a few things on my media list and I’d really like to finish the Netflix series, Immigration Nation, which I’ve already assigned to my students. I water all of my plants and pick up the dog poop. Then, I put my trash cans out at the curb.
1:00-2:00 - I have a salad and read Schuyler’s Monster.
2:00-4:00 - I take a 2-hour nap. I can feel my legs starting to lock up after this morning’s bike ride so I take some Advil.
4:45-6:00 - I record Part I of my Chapter 4 lecture for tomorrow’s 2:30 class.
L. returns for a pit stop, but leaves shortly thereafter for Door Dash.
6:00-9:00 - I leave for B.’s house and he has picked up cheese quesadillas for me, for dinner, and a combo plate for himself. We watch Episode 2 and 3 of Immigration Nation…wow, I’m really glad I took the time to do that. Very compelling and highly recommend. I head home.
9:15 - 11:30 - Home and I record Part II of Lecture and a Public Announcement. Then, I prepare a prompt for the Discussion Board for class tomorrow. I give everything to L. and she airdrops my recordings so I can post them to Canvas.
11:30 - 1:00 - I catch up on my blog osts.
2:00-3:00 - L. and I listen to an episode of Spooked. We both agree that it’s time to put up our favorite Halloween decorations since our next door neighbor already did (they have little kids).
3:00-3:30 - Night time routine. Bed.
