Day 14 - Governor Newsom rescinds restrictions. Outdoor dining reinstated!
Prism….
2/7/21. Sunday.
-9:30 – 10:00 - I absolutely have to get my ironing done this morning so my regular routine goes out the window. Up and I go downstairs to greet the dog. Unfortunately, she pooped next to the front door. We go outside and she goes potty. Then back inside for chicken for her and coffee for me.
10:00 –10:45 - Ironing. I have a few items that have been hanging in my laundry room for months and months and I will never get to it unless I do it first thing, before anything else.
10:45-11:30 – Vacuum the laundry room, stair landing, bathroom, and my closet. I wipe down my bathroom and Windex my bathroom mirrors and the mirror above my bed.
11:30-12:00-I go through my closet and purge around 25 items of clothing for Goodwill. I’m trying to be ruthless with the clothes I don’t wear.
12:00-12:30 – Fold a load of laundry and put it away. Wipe down the washer and drier and organize the hangers.
12:30-2:00 – Lunch. I start the book Dead Wake, a novel about the German bombing of the Lusitania during WWI. This was a recommendation from one of my students and is riveting thus far.
2:00-2:30 – L. is making a wire mobile for her 3D class and we talk about her progress on this project. The wire cutters she has aren’t working so I tell her I’ll ask B. for his.
3:30-5:00 – Shower. Lotion. Light make-up. I wear black leggings, a blue and white long sleeved top that L. gave me, and my black boots.
5:45 – 7:00 - B. arrives and we go to Olive Terrace for dinner! We’re masked and placed outside, legitimately, away from other people. It’s chilly, but there are large space heaters so it’s fine. I order the salmon Florentine and B. orders…something? I have an excellent glass of Prosecco. Our food comes quickly and we dig in, only to have our waitress tell us that we’re eating the wrong order. (LOL) Apparently, these were dishes a different table ordered – even though mine is still salmon – and the waiter mistakenly gave them to us. Because we already started eating, the waitress boxes the food and then brings out the appropriate plates. Our true order comes a few minutes later and it is excellent! Double leftovers!!
Although today was the Super Bowl, it doesn’t seem like anybody cares. Dirty Tom Brady needs to retire…how can you still be a quarterback at age 40? Plus, you’re a cheater. Step aside. Did everybody forget “deflate gate”?
7:00 – 8:00 - Like most restaurants, there’s a 90-minute time cap notice placed on all the tables for the patrons. B. and I are well within the time constraint – we finish eating and leave.
-Driving to B.’s house.
8:00 – 10:30 – Cocktail hour. At B.’s and we set up his computer and stream “Prism” from LA Opera. What an interesting “black-box” performance!! Super great!! and I’m glad I found it.
10:30 – 11:30 – I have a final nightcap at B.’s before I go home.
12:00-12:30 – Driving.
12:30 – 1:00 - B. drops me off. I say hello to L. She was able to successfully use our wire cutters and created the mobile. I’m not sure how I feel about it…I do like the wire orb/sphere that she designed and I think I’ll hang that piece from one of my trees outside. L. ultimately does not like her creation, but is confident that she will get an A in the class as this particular teacher is very kind and encouraging.
1:00-1:30 – Night time routine. Bed.
